Head shot questiones, hair & makeup..?

Hey (: I'm fifteen, I plan on getting my headshots done soon for acting. I want to play young roles (Disney, Nick, ABCfamily,e.t.c.) but i'd also love any role that would challenge me to play an older person. So what I'm saying is I'd like to be seen in the 14-17 yr old category but how should I capture that in my pictures. Hair up or down? Curly or Straight? Eyeliner no eyeliner? and everything else..

Keep everything SIMPLE and natural!





Ideally, you want to be able to use the same headshot for lots of different roles and directors. They want to see that they can dress you up or down and cast you as a goth or an athlete or a London Tipton type.





So give them a ';blank canvas'; to work with. Your makeup should be natural (giving the impression of no makeup at all), but polished: concealer, foundation, mascara and a natural lip shade. Your hair should be down and in its natural state.





As for clothing, wear a solid shirt with a simple neckline. NO graphics or words or distracting pieces of clothing. Oh, and no necklaces or bracelets. Simple stud earrings if you want jewelry.

Wear you hair and makeup about how you normally would. Casting agent don't want to see you all done up, they want to see you. Make it as natural as possible. If you wear you hear up with lots of eyeliner than do that. What I go by is I take my pictures wearing what I would meet them in.





You had also said you want to be seen as a younger role and a older role. Ask the person who is taking you picture to do different angles. What I did was for my 'younger' shot I sat on the floor with the photographer standing on a chair shooting down at me. It just makes it look a little bit more innocent.
I think hair down, straight and very light, natural-looking makeup. I recently saw the new Miss America after the pageant doing a promo and with her hair straight and natural makeup she looked about 16! In the pageant I would have thought 20-23.
