Hair and makeup question?

I'm going to my junior prom in a week, and I want to look good because I normally don't wear makeup or dress up.

I'll be wearing a red and white dress, I have thin, curly/wavy brown hair that falls slightly past my shoulders. I'd like to have all of it up and curly with a few strands falling. I have green eyes with some freckles, and I'm really pale with some acne. I need makeup ideas - I'm looking for something simple with the least amount of makeup possible. I have a hard time with foundation and the like because I have dry, but oily skin [it's hard to explain, but maybe someone else here has the same problem], but if there's any products you could recommend, that'd be great. I'm really just looking for websites/pictures of makeup and hairstyles that you think might work. Thanks!Hair and makeup question?
The one thing it seems no one has hit on yet is skin care. You have a little time, so you can help clear up some of those ';trouble spots'; on your skin before the prom.

First off, find a soap that doesn't leave your skin too dry. As everyone's skin is different, I don't recommend one type of soap over another. Second use moisturizer everyday over your whole face...even the oily spots. This should help your skin ';balance out'; a bit. Just don't use a greasy moisturizer: find one with Vitamin E, Aloe, Lanolin and water...you really don't need mush else on your skin.

With that as a daily routine, also look into get a nice skin toner. I absolutely LOVE Burt's Bees Garden Tomato toner. Use this maybe twice a week only, after washing your skin.

Also, look into buying a good Mint Julep face mask. I use and recommend Queen Helene's brand. Use this maybe twice before your prom. Simply wash the face, then spread a light, even coating of the mask over your entire face (leave about a quarter-inch around eyes). Let it sit at least fifteen minutes after it has dried, then gently wash off with just warm water and a soft washcloth...it will make a tremendous difference to the quality of your skin.

These skin care tips will help create a clean, smooth palate for whichever type of makeup you go with from the other answers that have been given.

Hope this helps!Hair and makeup question?
As for foundation try Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse , it comes in all different skin tones. I love it because once you put it on you can't feel it. It's also not obvious that you are wearing foundation, yet your face looks a lot clearer. It's great, and inexpensive as well.

You might find this site helpful when it comes to hair styles, they have a very big gallery:

put on l'oreal pure zone every day until your prom to get rid of any zits, then put concealer ( i use condealer #7 from Boots, works very well) on all your blemishes and spots that remain. use olay foundation if you want, but if even that kind doesn't work for you, then it doesn't matter.

then put on some brown eye liner on your lower lid (between the eyeball and the lashes), then some on the top lid, try to do a very thin line. i use l'oreal eye liner in darkish brown. then put quite a thick line of dark brown eye shadow over it (i use clinique, with a light pink on the smae palette) and the rest of the upper lid you cover with the other color in the palette, light pink going towards salmon. this will create a smoky effect. the put on som blush if you want, what i do is apply a tiny bit of red lipstick on top of the foundation and smudge it around - works a treat. then the lips would look look best with a brownish sparkly gloss, i use carlo and romana (un unknown brand, sorry).

voila!

hope it suits you!
You could try a nice concealer instead of foundation. Try it in a really light colour though. Some mascara nad a little eyeliner would be pretty and top it off with alittle blush on your cheeks, it will give you a nice healty glow, oh and add some tinted lip gloss that matches your skin tones. I went to the cosmetics dept. at my local drug store and the lady adviced me of the colours and such. I also use a mask or a facial peel every now and then it gives your skin a nice glow. THe important thing is to not overdo it and be confident!
use colors that will go with what you are wearing, not to bright, and try not to look like Paris Hilton, or other nuts girl, most important is to have fun on you prom and take a lot of pictures, I finished college and I feel bad, good luck.
covergirl makes a nice 3-in one foundation. it covers up acne well and it works on combination skin too. i have the same problem with finding a good makeup. just try to avoid liquid foundations they don't cover as well.
since you dont wear alot of makeup, id go for mascara and eye liner, since your eyes are green definatly wear brown mascara and liner, they really make the green eyes pop, and try a natural colored gloss, by natural i mean close to your natural lip color, with some shine. for foundation, first put on facial lotion, on forehead and cheeks, not over oily parts, im guessing chin and around nose, maybe parts of forehead. then since you dont wear alot of make, get a good concealer, the lightest color, it should be a little lighter then your skin, then i really like maybelline nearly naked foundation, or if your skin isnt too bad, just put powder over the lotion and concealer.
If you don't normally wear make up you might try checking in some of the department stores. Many of the stores with Clinique, Estee Lauder, etc makeup counters will do prom makeup for no charge. Just an idea. My friend's daughter just had her prom and she had her makeup done in a department store with Clinique, it looked really great.
